MANUFACTURING SECTOR

The Bidding Process for the Manufacturing Sector

TARGET AUDIENCE:

Owners and managers of a small to medium-sized business in the manufacturing sector or a production environment

DESCRIPTION:

How do I go about accessing all of the business that appears to be going through open bidding processes?

How do I respond to government bids?  What are MERX, BIDS, Opportunity? Am I big enough to carve out a piece of that pie?  How do I go about completing all those documents? It all seems pretty complicated the first time!  Entrepreneurs don’t always have experience with the terms and requirements in the open bidding process. This workshop provides the knowledge and the skills required to access and complete bids.

CONTENT:

In a hands-on interactive workshop you will learn to:

  • Identify key bidding opportunity networks in Atlantic Canada and Canada wide.
  • Differentiate between categories of tenders currently in use.
  • Search key bid sites for opportunities.
  • Identify key factors in determining whether to submit bids.
  • Identify the purpose and intent of specific bid documents.
  • Describe the purpose and usage of bid bonds.
  • Identify strategies for assembling successful bids.
  • Describe key components of a standard purpose bidding framework document.
  • Identify key profit-building strategies when costing bids.
  • Assess risk related to bids such as effort vs. results and financial risk vs. return.
  • Review results of bids on a regular basis.
  • Identify good management practices for successful bids.

At the end of the day, participants will prepare an Action Plan to put the workshop into practice.
