Supervisory Skills for the Manufacturing Sector

TARGET AUDIENCE:

Supervisors and/or first line of management working in a small to medium-sized business; manufacturing or production environment

DESCRIPTION:

Designed as a general introduction for new supervisors or as a re-fresher for experienced supervisors, this two-day workshop will help supervisors develop management skills that will lead to a more positive and productive work environment.

CONTENT:

At the end of Day 1, participants will be able to:

  • Clearly define their supervisory roles and responsibilities.
  • Compare leadership styles and identify the most appropriate style.
  • Develop effective communication skills, including constructive confrontation.
  • Create a motivational work environment.

At the end of Day 2, participants will be able to:

  • Provide reassuring and remedial feedback on an ongoing basis.
  • Develop clear work plans leading to effective coaching and performance management.
  • Deal with difficult situations and use discipline when required.
  • Foster a team approach and deal with conflict constructively.
